Deal finally sealed on landmark Warwick hotel
The landmark Warwick Hotel in Salthill – derelict for the past five years – has finally been sold for a figure believed to be in the region of €700,000.
It’s understood the buyer is considering retaining the property as a hotel, or converting into a nursing home.
The 33-bed hotel, restaurant and nightclub premises was purchased in trust by a city solicitor on behalf of a local client.
Selling agent Colm O’Donnellan of O’Donnellan & Joyce Auctioneers said he is unaware of the buyer’s identity, as it had been acquired by Patricia Bambury of MG Ryan & Co Solicitors in trust.
“It’s believed consideration is being given to keep it as it is as a hotel or to convert into a nursing home,” he added. He sold the property with joint agents DTZ.
The hotel had been on the market since 2011, when it was put up with a price tag of around €2 million, and several potential deals fell through since then.
