Students at a Connemara secondary school are engaged in a day – long strike over conditions in their classrooms.

Pupils at Carna Community School say the 50 year-old heating system is not good enough and over 60 of them walked out and stood in protest in front of the school this morning.

Over half the pupils have now decided to maintain their protest for the rest of the day and have gone home.

They’ve agreed to return to school tomorrow after they were assured the heating system will be fixed.
