Danger Mouse is back – with jobs for Galway firm

Remerging from a 23-year slumber, the eye-patch sporting crime fighter Danger Mouse is back in business – and he’s bringing high-tech jobs to Galway!

Best known for saving London from villains like Baron Von Greenback, Danger Mouse made a return to television in 2015 – but now a close-knit team of techies called 9th Impact, based in Mervue, has taken Danger Mouse into the mobile world.

And the Danger Games has so far taken away some highly coveted awards, including Most Innovative Game of 2017, as well as a nomination for Best Mobile Game at Gamescom in Germany last August.

The Danger Games, based on the episode Quark Games, is an epic multiplayer race battle and trading card game which enables users to interact with DM on multiple levels. Players can battle their friends and other players from all over the world in real time.

“We want to get all DM’s fans playing the Danger Games and looking forward to our next development,” said 9th Impact’s CTO Finn Krewer.

And as an avid supporter and volunteer for the children’s coding club, CoderDojo, he sees coding as a key skill for the future.

“Most of our employees learned coding long before anything like CoderDojo existed, but we’d hope some of the kids involved could be working for us in future,” he said.

The company has more than a few titles under their belt, including Bike Mice From Mars – also based on a beloved nineties classic cartoon – and the team is shortly starting work on a top-secret project for another television tie-in.

“We’re very excited about this one, and hopefully as it takes off we’ll be needing more of those coders for years to come,” admitted Finn.

The Danger Games is free to download for Android and iOS.
