Dance Project kicks off new year in style
Galway Dance Project will present a packed programme between now and March that will includes leading international, national and local choreographers and dance artists sharing their knowledge and skills.
It features one of the UK’s most innovative and avant-garde choreographers and visual artists, Rosemary Butcher and one of Ireland’s leading and most respected choreographers Liz Roche, as well as other Irish based practitioners, Ríonach Ní Neill, Katherine O’Malley, Elena Giannotti, Berni Divilly and Rachel Parry among others.
Kick-starting the year will be a workshop with Galway based dance artist, Bernadette Divilly entitled Dancing Between the Bones. This will take place on January 18 and 19 in Galway Rowing Club,
Waterside, Woodquay from 12-7pm daily.
In addition, an innovative series of dance classes and talks from NUIG’s Rachel Parry will begin on January 20, providing an Introduction to Contemporary Dance practice.
Further courses and events will take place throughout the Spring. These are organised by Galway Dance Project, a not-for-profit group which was was established in 2011 to support the development of dance in Galway. It provides a programme of professional level dance classes, workshops and events and is working towards securing a dedicated space for dance in Galway city.
