Dance music all the way as Plutonic Dust play Monroe’s

Fresh from their slot at last weekend’s Body & Soul Festival, electro-pop quintet Plutonic Dust come to Monroe’s Live on Thursday, July 7.

The quintet formed in 2012, when school friends Patrick McAdam (drums, synth, guitar), Kevin Mc Knight (bass) and Ciarán O’Shea (guitar) were looking for a singer. Veronica Moran responded to their advert and a new project was born which saw the release of a debut album, Grand Delusions, in April.

“We had the advertisement up for about a year, then Veronica got on to Paddy and recorded a few vocals,” says Kevin. “I think it was a month or two before we met up with her. We organised a gig in Sin É (in Dublin), which was a bit of a comeback for us. We hadn’t played in about six months. It sounded really good and Veronica was happy, so we kept it going from there.”

The line-up is completed by John Tyrrell, who bring congas, drum pads and other percussion to the mix. The band’s music is produced by Patrick McAdam, who is a big fan of the seminal electro-pop wizards New Order.

This is a band with the dancefloor in their sights.

“Our goal isn’t to try to change the world, we just want to play good music,” Paddy says.

Doors 10pm, tickets €10/€8 online.
