“The adventure of dance” will be explored at a three-day festival and symposium being held throughout the city this weekend.

Dance Days which is curated by NUIG Dancer in Residence, Ríonach Ní Néill, is being hosted by NUIG and Galway City and will feature several world and Irish dance premieres, ranging from intimate solo pieces to large-scale theatrical spectacles.

This is the third year of the Dance Days Festival which reflects the growing interest in dance among Irish people and the creative work that is happening countrywide, according Ríonach.

The Connemara based dancer and choreographer has commissioned several new pieces, including one by Galway-based choreographer, Judith Sibley.

These Moments continues to see Judith pushing the boundaries of classical dance in a piece that contains both “lightness and darkness”, according to Ríonach.

It will be performed by Chrysalis Dance as part of a series of workshops by Irish female choreographers on Saturday at Fairgreen House, Fairgreen Road, marking women’s experiences in Ireland, past and present.
