CUSTODY REMAND FOR TEEN IN CONNECTION WITH DEATH OF OUGHTERARD PUBLICAN

A teenage boy charged with the manslaughter of Oughterard publican John Kenny last year has been remanded in custody.

The 17 year old Romanian national who cannot be named for legal reasons appeared before Galway District Court where he was assisted by an interpreter.

The youth is also charged with withholding information in relation to the investigation.

56 year old John Kenny was found dead in his pub in Oughterard with his hand tied behind his back on 25th September last year.

Judge Mary Fahy remanded the 17 year old in custody to appear before Galway Juvenile Court on Thursday week 16th February.

Judge Fahy also made a formal order for a birth certificate.

Acting Defence Solicitor Adrian McGlynn also told the court that an application for bail is to be heard in the High Court.

His co-accused 35 year old Marian Lingurar with an address in Cork City is to appear in relation to the same two charges before Harristown District Court this Friday.
