CUSTODY REMAND FOR MAN CHARGED WITH RAHOON ASSAULT

A city man has been remanded in custody in connection with a suspected stabbing in Rahoon.

36 year old Billy McGinley, of 118 Claremont Park appeared before a special sitting of Derrynea District Court in the past hour.

Billy McGinley has been charged with assault causing harm under Section 3 of the Non-fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.

Judge Mary Fahy remanded him in custody and the paperwork on his case is currently being processed at Millstreet Garda station.

The victim, who’s in his late 20’s or early 30’s and from Kinvara, was rushed into emergency surgery at UHG after the alarm was raised at 7.30 am.

His condition was critical for a time yesterday but he’s now reported to be stable.
