Cullinane set to miss Cork clash

THEGalway hurlers will hope to banish the memories of their second half collapse against Cork in last year’s All- Ireland qualifiers when the two counties come face-to-face again at Semple Stadium, Thurles, on Saturday evening (7 p.m.).
If Galway are to overcome Cork, they will have to do so without inspirational wing back Adrian Cullinane, who picked up a nasty knee injury in last weekend’s bruising 2-18 to 1-11 victory over Clare in Ennis, the county’s first significant championship win since the 2005 All-Ireland semi-final. Since that shock win over Kilkenny four years ago, they had only managed to beat Laois and Antrim
in high summer.
Cullinane was awaiting the result of an MRI scan on his damaged knee last night, but is certain to miss the trip to Thurles; however, at least team captain Ollie Canning and hugely improved centre forward Cyril Donnellan, both withdrawn with head injuries in the second half of the Clare game, will have recovered for the showdown with the Rebels.
