Crimestoppers have issued an appeal for information about an attack on two elderly brothers at their Williamstown home in June.

Michael and Owen Kelly, both in their 80s, were targetted by two masked raiders at their house in Ballyroe at around 11 on the night of June 7th.

The offenders, who are understood to be Irish, were wearing balaclavas and carrying a firearm when they entered the house, tied up the brothers and demanded money.

Although the brothers did not sustain serious injuries one was treated in hospital for a time following the incident.

One of the raiders was approximately 5 feet 5 in height and of medium build while the second man was taller and of the same build.

Tuam Superintendent Gearoid Begley says Gardai are anxious to speak to anyone who may have been in the area that Thursday evening or the following day.

And a reminder that the confidential Crimestoppers number is 1800 25 00 25 and a reward may be offered.
