Crime in the county down by one fifth

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Crime is down by more than a fifth in the county, according to the latest Garda figures.

At a meeting of the County Joint Policing Committee today (18/11), Chief Superintendent of Galway Gardaí, Tom Curley said there is a 21 percent decrease in reported crime.

Burglaries in the county are also down by 15 percent, although theft from the person has increased by almost 90 percent.

The report also shows that drugs worth more almost 3.3 million euro were seized by Gardaí in Galway city and county in the first 10 months of the year.

Chief Superintendent of Galway Gardaí, Tom Curley says that while crime is down, he wants to see more detection by Gardaí.
