CRIME FALLS ACROSS 65 PERCENT OF GALWAY GARDA STATIONS

Crime has fallen across 65 percent of all stations within the Galway Garda Division.

That’s according to the latest crime statistics from the CSO which also show that nationally Galway Garda Station had the seventh highest number of offences last year.

In the Galway Garda Division, the number of recorded offences between 2011 and 2010 has fallen across 37 of the 57 stations.

Galway garda station had the seventh highest number of offences in the country last year at 4 thousand 363.

However the figures show that crime at Galway Garda Station has fallen year on year from 6 thousand 296 recorded incidents in 2008, 5 thousand 890 in 2009 and 5 thousand 434 in 2010.

Store Street station in Dublin city is the busiest Garda Station -with 8,510 crimes recorded there in 2011.

The breakdowns do not include data on rape, sexual offences and kidnappings due to data protection issues.
