Cousins not going anywhere

GALWAY United have dismissed as “complete, utter rubbish” suggestions that Bohemians have made an approach to prise manager Tony Cousins away from Terryland Park.
There has been speculation that the former Bohs favourite would join Pat Fenlon’s new management team at the Phibsboro club, but United’s CEO Nick Leeson told City Sport that Bohs had not sought permission from United to speak to Cousins.
“That is something that has being going around for the last two weeks, but I can tell you it is complete rubbish. Tony is working hard at the moment looking to bring in one more player, he is getting ready for the start of preseason training, and he is also doing his Pro licence, so there is no way he is going to Bohs.
“To be perfectly honest, it would be a backwards step for him — why would he leave the assistant manager post at Drogheda to come to us, and then go back as an assistant manager at another club? “The lads are back in preseason training on Monday and he is busy preparing for the new season. Bohs have not approached us about speaking to him, he is not going anywhere,” Leeson said.
