COURT APPEARANCE FOR CRIMINAL DAMAGE AT FORMER CITY OCCUPY CAMP

Two men are due to appear in court this day week [May 28] charged with criminal damage at the former city Occupy camp.

The men, one in his mid twenties and the other in his early twenties, were arrested last Thursday at around 3pm when chalk graffiti was discovered on city council walls in Eyre Square.

Another woman, aged in her mid 30s, was arrested and cautioned.

The camp which had been in the city for seven months was removed in the early hours of last Wednesday morning by a team of 40 Gardai and council officials.

It was part of a global movement against corporate greed.

Gardai will continue to monitor the site this week.
