COUPLE RESCUED FROM WATER IN GALWAY CITY

A young couple has been rescued from the water in Galway city overnight.

It comes after a man was rescued from the water in the same area yesterday morning.

A 19 year old girl is reported to have fallen off the sea wall beside the Spanish Arch in the city at ten to two this morning.

Her boyfriend who was with her at the time immediately jumped in after her and held her afloat until Galway fire brigade pulled the couple to safety at about 2.10 am.

They were taken by ambulance to University College Hospital Galway and discharged about 15 minutes later.
