COUNTY PLANNERS PUT FOOT DOWN ON TUAM ESTATE EXPANSION

A bid to expand a housing estate in Tuam has failed.

Landowner Joe Dilleen has had a plan to add 26 more houses to the Bealach na Gaoithe housing estate rejected by Galway county council.

Galway county planners have turned down a proposal by landowner Joe Dilleen to extend the Bealach na Gaoithe housing estate in the townland of Killaloonty, Tuam.

They’re claiming the linear layout of the houses, the overly formal arrangement, the straight roads, the lack of public open space and impact of existing houses, would result in a substandard overdevelopment of Bealach na Gaoithe.
