Galway can recover it’s litter free status.

That’s the message from Mayor of Galway, Tom McHugh.

Both Galway and Ballinasloe lost their litter free status in the 2009 litter survey of 60 towns and cities by Irish Business Against Litter.

Galway was described as ‘moderately littered’ in 45th position.

It also lost its crown as Ireland’s cleanest city while Ballinasloe was described as ‘seriously littered’ in 54th spot – a few places shy of the ‘litter blackspots.’

Speaking about the damning report, which could damage Galway’s tourism potential. Mayor Tom McHugh says Galway can recover it’s litter free status
