Galway County Council is to write to the Government requesting that disability grants NOT be means tested

The Housing Adapt Scheme for the disabled funds the re-construction of houses of people with disabilities

The grant will now be determined on the income of everybody living in the applicant’s house

At a meeting of Galway County Council this week, a motion put forward by Councillor James Joyce, to NOT means test disabilty grants, was passed

Councillor Joyce says disabled people are entitled to have their house adapted, regardless of the income of anybody else in the house
