An East Galway Fianna Fáil Councillor is calling for an urgent meeting of a local Dáil Ceantair to discuss proposed budget cuts in agriculture.

Moylough-based Councillor, Michael Connolly, is urging the agricultural sub Committee of the East Galway Comhairle Dáil Ceantair to invite TDs to hear the concerns of local farmers.

It comes after the IFA held the second in a series of meetings against the cuts last night.

The Dáil ceantair advises local TDs and Senators as to what it feels should be happening in agriculture.

Councillor Connolly says the cuts will cause hardship to farmers who are already struggling to survive.
