County businesses owe 4 million in water charges
Galway bay fm newsroom -Businesses in County Galway owe 4.2 million euro in unpaid water charges.
That’s according to today’s Irish Independent which reports that just 48% of water bills have been paid.
However, the Department of the Environment says 1 million euro of ‘old uncollectable debts’ should be written off.
Nationally, local authorities are attempting to reclaim 150 million euro in outstanding debt, and it is believed Irish Water will adopt a ‘get-tough’ approach on businesses from next summer.
