COUNTING TO GET UNDERWAY AT GALWAY CENTRES

Counting of votes in the referendum for Galway’s 320 boxes will begin in the next hour (9am) at Leisureland in Salthill and at New Inn Community Centre.

Nationally, more than 3.1 million people were entitled to vote on the proposed thirtieth amendment to the constitution – but only around half did so.

If it’s not too close, a call will be made on the result by 11am.

This will be followed by an official declaration in the afternoon at the central count centre in Dublin Castle.
