Councillors urged to back plan for increased speed limit on Airport Road
Galway Bay fm newsroom – An Oranmore Area Councillor is hoping local authority members will back a bye-law to increase the speed limit on the road between Galway Airport and Ballintemple.
County Councillors are due to vote on the matter when a report on road traffic special speed limits comes before them at their monthly meeting later today.
Councillors made amendments to a number of speed limits on national and regional roads in a document supplied by the National Roads Authority last November.
This has now been approved by the NRA and is to come back before County Hall where bye-laws must be passed.
Oranmore Area Cllr Jim Cuddy says the current limit at the Airport Road is unsuitable with many motorists receiving penalty points unfairly as a result.
