Councillors unanimously support bid for European City of Culture status

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway City Councillors have voted unanimously to support the city’s bid to become a European City of Culture in 2020.
The motion was proposed by Fine Gael Councillor Pearce Flannery who stated that a successful bid should leave ‘a lasting legacy in the city’.
He says that one such legacy should be the development of a School of Music and Performing Arts as part of NUI Galway or GMIT.
