Councillors in Bar Brawl

An alchohol-fuelled bust-up between two city councillors at their Christmas dinner this week only ended after the pair were dragged apart by colleagues while dozens of revellers attending parties looked on in shock.
The incident on Monday night followed the last City Council meeting of the year which had to be abandoned after just one hour because of a row, leaving councillors free to go to the pub nearly three hours early.
Independent councillor Daniel Callanan was involved in the fracas with Fine Gael’s Cllr John Mulholland at the Park House Hotel at about 1.30am following an 8pm dinner. A handful of councillors and just one Council official were still enjoying the festivities at the table when the argument broke out. The City Manager Joe MacGrath had left an hour before.
