Councillor wants city marketing fund used for flood repairs
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The City’s marketing and promotion fund should be used to bridge finance for business-owners who have been hit by flood damage.
That’s according to Fianna Fáil Councillor Peter Keane, who’s calling on the City Manager, Brendan McGrath to make the fund available as a bridging finance mechanism.
Councillor Keane says the fund could be used to help businesses carry out repair work following recent storms.
The Office of Public Works is to make funds available for repairs in Galway but Councillor Keane is concerned that this will only include public structural damage.
Councillor Peter Keane says there is a pot of 360 thousand euro in the marketing fund which could tide businesses over until Government funding comes through.
