COUNCILLOR CONDEMNS DELAY IN RECRUITING TRAFFIC WARDENS

The delay in recruiting school traffic wardens in Galway city has been described as ‘unacceptable and inexcusable’.

That’s according to City Councillor Mary Leahy who’s angry a traffic warden hasn’t yet been placed on the Ballybane Road and a second warden hasn’t been recruited for the Dublin Road in Renmore.

Councillor Leahy says school children travelling to Renmore School have to navigate a bus lane and 2 lanes of traffic with the help of only one school warden.

She’s also critical that school-children crossing the Ballybane Road have to navigate the road alone.

Councillor Leahy can’t understand why the city council has not yet held interviews for the positions and she’ll keep campaigning until the wardens are in place.
