Councillor claims brothel still in operation near City Hall
A city brothel remains open and operating with success, three months after a former mayor reported it to Galway Gardaí.
This was the claim made by City Councillor Pádraig Conneely (FG) at the latest Galway City Joint Policing Committee (JPC).
The Fine Gael politician, at the June meeting, tipped-off Gardaí about the presence of a brothel operating near City Hall on College Road.
And at the latest JPC meeting, Cllr Conneely said the brothel was still open and doing a roaring trade.
Garda Chief Superintendent Tom Curley told Cllr Conneely that he was aware of one prosecution in the past four to six weeks, and he endeavoured to meet with him after the JPC to see if was the same brothel they were referring to.
“I’d be disappointed if it was still up and running,” said Chief Supt Curley.
