A Connemara councillor is pleading with county planners to re-consider plans for a sewage plant in Carraroe.

Councillor Thomas Welby claims the proposals are too large and industrial for the site and would ruin an otherwise scenic area.

The proposed site is near the pier in Sruthan which has been earmarked as a possible location for a marina in the county development plan.

Meanwhile, notice of an application for a licence in respect of Clifden Sewerage Scheme has been issued.

A copy of the application, related maps, plans and drawings will be on display for the next three weeks at Clifden Garda Station.
