Plans to build a mixed use development in Clonboo, Corrandulla have been shot down by Galway County Council.

Michael Regan was hoping to build shops, offices and houses there, but the plans generated opposition from locals.

The plans at Clonboo would have comprised 5 shops, including a supermarket, 2 offices, 8 duplex/townhouses and a semi-basement carpark.

Michael Regan also proposed a realignment and widening of the existing road and the creation of a new junction with the N84.

However, several objections to the plans were lodged with County Planners from a local group called Forbairt Clonboo and Udaras na Gaeltachta.

Concerns were expressed about odours from a treatment plant which would form part of the development and the possibility of flooding and road safety.
