COUNCIL TO PROVIDE BACK UP WATER SUPPLY TO CITY CENTRE

Galway City Council is working on providing a back-up supply of water to the city centre this afternoon.[9/12]

Homes and businesses in the city have been without water since this morning.

Council crews have established that the problem arose due to a third party contractor carrying out excavation work in the area.

They have now isolated the problem and are working on providing an alternative supply to the city.

Director of Water Services with the City Council, Ciarán Hayes says they hope to restore water to the city centre by this evening.
