Council seeks ‘superhero’ to address tenant woes
Galway City Council are searching for a superhero who can sort out all their tenants’ woes.
Well, perhaps not quite, but the duties listed for a Housing/Estate Liaison Officer currently being sought by the local authority are pretty impressive if one is to judge by the staff vacancy advertised on the Council’s own website.
He or shewill have to establish contact and liaise with residents in local authority estates; help establish new residents’ associations; train locals in estate management; ensure they comply with tenancy agreements; manage estates; liaise with Travellers; investigate complaints; facilitate transfers; and help control dogs, horses, and illegally parked vehicles.
At the same time, the successful applicant will have to manage the Council’s housing stock and act as a liaison officer between tenants, senior local authority management, and bodies such as the Gardaí, Health Board, and the Department of Social Protection.
