COUNCIL PROVIDES WATER AT LOCATIONS IN THE COUNTY
Date Published: 23-Dec-2010
Water tankers and stand pipes have been put at locations across the county to help consumers who are without water at their homes.
Galway County Council is continuing its water restrictions at night across the county in a bid to maintain a supply during the day.
The severe freezing temperatures at the moment have resulted in an increase in the demand for water in the county.
There will be no water in the Tonabrucky, Furrymelia, Barna and Moycullen areas from 9 o’ clock every night until 9am.
Water restrictions will also be in place for the Moylough, Ballinastack, Springlawn and Treasna areas overnight from 10.30pm to 7am for the next few nights.
There are reports of no water in the Maree, Oranmore area also today.
The Council has arranged for water to be supplied in some locations around the county for people who have no supply due to frozen pipes.
A list of the locations where water is available is on the County Council’s website, www.galway.ie
All water from these tankers and stand pipes must be boiled before use.
Many parts of the city are experiencing water shortages too this morning due to localised frozen pipes and a thaw is not expected until St. Stephen’s Day.
