COUNCIL FAILS HALF OF RENTED HOMES INSPECTED LAST YEAR
Date Published: 05-Jan-2010
Over fifty percent of private rented homes inspected by Galway County Council last year failed to meet current standards.
Out of 395 properties inspected, 200 failed to comply with standards for rented houses and issue of rent books.
The main areas where properties failed to meet the standards included a lack of fire blankets, smoke alarms, lagging jackets on hot water tanks and no extractor fans over cooking areas.
The County Council says the relevant landlords have been issued with notices to carry out repairs.
