ounty Council crews are focusing on restoring water to homes in the East Galway area today.

Bursts on the Ballinasloe scheme are affecting the Clonfert, Meelick, Laurencetown and Kiltormer areas.

Most other areas have had water restored, although there may be some isolated cases.

Water levels in reservoirs have risen overnight and there is a reported improvement across the county.

Water had to be shut off to a private housing estate in Athenry and two estates in Oranmore as there was a massive drain from them.

It’s understood the developers of the estates are working on rectifying the problem.

Director of Services with Galway County Council, Jim Cullen says overnight restrictions will continue however.

Meanwhile, the City Council is urging people who still don’t have water to get in contact.
