Council staff are still trying to pinpoint the cause of a water outage which has left residents and businesses in Oranmore without running water this evening.

The problem emerged in the early hours of this morning, and has affected up to 100 residents in the Oakfield, Tudor Vale and Ashbrook estates.

The Maldron hotel and Esso filling station have also been operating without water since this morning.

A team from Galway County Council initially investigated the possibility of a burst water mains, but say that so far no leak has been detected

They are now examining the valves or a possible air lock along the affected line between the Maldron hotel and the shopping centre in Oranmore.
