Council agrees to house hospital helipad in Shantalla
Galway bay fm newsroom – The City Council has agreed to accommodate a temporary helipad for the hospital at Shantalla Community Park.
The Part 8 decision was discussed at a meeting of the City Council last evening. (11/11)
Representatives of the Health Service Executive were present at the meeting to answer questions about the temporary helipad.
It’s needed to facilitate the construction of a two-tier car park on the grounds of University Hospital Galway in Newcastle.
Several sites were considered but the location at Shantalla park was deemed to be the most suitable.
The helipad will remain in place for 6 months, after which, the site will be reinstated within 12 weeks.
