Could Galway send their Doctors to the (White) House?
The Saw Doctors would be delighted to play the White House in Washington for their old friend and Oval Office hopeful – but in return the Galway band would love a Presidential visit to their home town of Tuam!
The lads are pinning their hopes on their good friend Governor Martin O’Malley, whose great grandfather was a native of Maam Valley, securing his party’s nomination to run for the most powerful political post on the planet.
The Governor of Maryland has been a regular visitor to Galway and has sampled pints of Guinness in various pubs in Tuam and has entertained customers in Keane’s of Maam with his incredible vocal talent.
But he is now seeking the Democratic nomination for President of the United States – and he is likely to end up in a head to head challenge with Hillary Clinton.
Leo Moran of the Sawdocs will have more than a passing interest in his fortunes as the two have struck up an incredible friendship over the years.
“From what what I am hearing, he is neck and neck with Clinton and could be the surprise package,” said Leo who added that the Governor last visited Tuam last year.
“He loves coming to Tuam and having a few leisurely pints. He really enjoys the atmosphere which is very relaxed,” he added.
