Corofin aiming to upset the odds

GALWAY and Connacht champions Corofin will go into Saturday’s (2.30pm) assignment in Mullingar in the strange position of being underdogs to advance to the AIB All-Ireland club football final at Croke Park on St. Patrick’s Day.
The North Galway side have been favourites before all of their matches throughout the 2008 county and provincial championship campaign but it is an indication of the massive challenge they face in the semi-final this weekend that the bookies have installed their Dublin opponents Kilmacud Crokes as firm favourites (4/6) to emerge winners.
Corofin manager Jimmy Sice and his aides have delayed naming the starting line-up until Friday evening but halfback Michael Comer hasn’t recovered from a cruciate knee injury he sustained in the county championship, which is a massive blow to Corofin as he was an integral part of their notoriously mean defensive unit.
