CONTROVERSIAL CONNEMARA SCHOOL TO BE LEASED TO LOCAL COMMUNITY

A controversial school in Connemara is to be leased to the local community on a long term basis.

Negotiations on the lease of Recess school are at an advanced stage between a local community development group and the Archdiocese of Tuam.

The school was closed in the early 1990’s when it proved impossible to solve an impasse about teaching through Irish.
