CONTRACTS SIGNED FOR KILLIMOR AND WOODFORD WATER TREATMENT PLANTS

Water treatment plants in Killimor and Woodford will now be upgraded to bring hundreds of householders water supplies up to EU standards.

Contracts worth a total of 873 thousand euro, to upgrade the fresh water treatment plants in both areas have been signed.

The works will include the installation of new filtration systems and ancillary works, and are expected to be completed by 2011.

The funding is part of the water services initiative programme in response to European directives on improving drinking water nationwide.
