Galway Bay fm newsroom – The city manager says he expects the contracts for Galway airport to be signed by the end of April.

Galway city and county councils purchased the 115 acre site from Galway chamber last November for 1.1 million euro.

Councillor Peter Keane questioned the future of the aviation licence at the facility which he says is due to expire in the first two weeks of April.

In response, Brendan McGrath said the councils weren’t the owners of the facility just yet but added he had met with airport stakeholders recently about the licence.

Councillor Keane says he worried a firm commitment hasn’t been made regarding this issue.
