Galway Bay fm newsroom – A contractor has now been appointed to replace an old watermain in Clifden following a long running campaign by concerned local residents.
Residents in the Tullyvogheen and Cúirt Cregg estates have been calling on Irish Water to address ongoing concerns regarding water discolouration and possible contamination.
In June, the EPA requested a timetable from Irish Water for the replacement of the mains concerned along the Galway road.
Irish Water says the design work has been carried out by Galway County Council.
The site investigation will be carried out in the coming weeks.
Construction of the watermain will commence in September.
