CONTRACT SIGNED FOR PREPARATORY WORK ON ORANMORE TRAIN STATION

Galway County Council and Iarnród Eireann have signed the contract for preparatory work at Oranmore Train Station.

The contract will enable work to start on access roads at the site in Garraun which are currently surrounded by temporary fencing.

This will be followed by platform work, the erection of shelters and the installation of ticket desks and fittings.

A 150 bay carpark will then be built to complete the project.

Local Councillor Jim Cuddy says the timeframe for the overall project is likely to be early next year.

However he says machinery for these preparatory works should be visible onsite in the coming weeks
