CONNEMARA VILLAGES LOSING OUT ON FUNDS DUE TO RED TAPE

A number of Connemara villages are missing out on thousands of euro in funding because of a bureaucratic tangle.

The EU-supported ‘Leader’ fund provides cash for rural development and several villages west of the Corrib were earmarked to receive the funds.

However, the fund has fallen between two stools as a stand-off continues about whether the Leader funds should be used in places where the County Council has responsibilities.
