CONNEMARA SEX ACCUSED REMANDED ON BAIL

A 43 year old man who denies a charge of sexually assaulting a female last year has been remanded on bail following his appearance before Galway District Court.

The man, who may not be named for legal reasons, is charged with sexually assaulting the alleged victim on March 13th 2007 in a Connemara village.

Inspector Pat McHugh said the book of evidence in the matter was not yet ready.

Judge Mary Fahy directed the man’s name could not be published in order to protect the identity of the alleged victim and she remanded the accused on continuing bail to appear before the court again on September 22 next, for service of the book of evidence.
