A local resident says if the county council provides the materials local people will build the footpath urgently needed for the Pier Road in Ros an Mhíl.

Padraic an Táilliúra O Conghaile’s comment comes on the eve of a planned protest in memory of Leah Feeney who was walking the road when she was struck by a car and killed just over a week ago.

The protest is scheduled to take place at 1 tomorrow afternoon outside An Céibh pub.

Padraic, who’s Chairman of Glór na Tuaithe, says that if the council supports them the people will find a way to build the footpath.

Padraic An Táilliúra O’ Conghaile has also suggested that councillors halt their discretionary spending elsewhere and pool the funding into making the Pier road safer.
