CONNEMARA POWERLINE TO BE SPEEDED THROUGH PLANNING PROCESS

A proposed 20 million euro ESB powerline for Connemara is to be speeded through the planning process.

An Bord Pleanála has decided to class it as ‘strategic infrastructure’.

This means it will bypass Galway County Council and go directly to An Bord Pleanála for approval.

ESB Networks has already published its preferred route for the 51 kilometre overhead powerline after an extensive public consultation process.
