A Connemara-based pharmaceutical company has been acknowledged for its world class business standards.

Serving many niche markets, primarily in North America, the plant has expertise in the area of injectable hyaluronic acid products for use in a variety of products within orthopaedics, rheumatology, urology and dermatology as well as analgesics, oncology and cardiovascular..

The company employs 245 people at its facilities in Inverin and Casla and was among 24 organisations honoured at a special ceremony at the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) offices in Dublin recently.

Speaking at the event, Martina Hearns, HR Manager at Mylan Galway, said achieving certification to this standard will support the firm in training and retaining staff.

“We are very pleased to be receiving the Excellence Through People Award from the NSAI. The Excellence Through People scheme is a business improvement model which has provided us with a road-map to enhance performance and achieve our business objectives through the management and development of our people,” said Ms Hearns.

“It is a great achievement for the Galway facility and reflects our commitment to the development of our people and supports our mission to provide 7 billion people with high quality medicines,” she added.
