This weekend Connemara native Ciara Durkin who died in Afghanistan was laid to rest beside her father Tommy in Eanach Mheain cemetery

Before her ashes were laid to rest yesterday mass was celebrated by Fr Michael Brennan in Lettermore Church

Mystery still surrounds the death of the 30 year old US soldier at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan from a single gunshot wound to the head

Her mother Angela and her family are requesting a full investigation into her death, which the DEpartment of Defense say was from injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident
