Connemara gets thumbs up from tourists in new survey
Galway Bay fm newsroom – According to a new holidaymakers study by Failte Ireland 62 per cent of visitors surveyed highly recommend the Galway area while a whopping 83 per cent recommend Galway and Mayo for its scenery.
One thousand and twenty seven face to face interviews were conducted with holidaymakers for the survey and sixty five per cent of those were in the area for the first time.
In Galway- Mayo the most popular destination for the 83 per cent of visitors who recommended this area was Connemara, especially the Connemara National
While visitors surveyed gave a low rating of 1.41 out of 5 for transport within Galway and Mayo Camen Wall says this may be due to many tourists expecting to be able to go by public transport to some of the more remote areas.
Other local destinations and events to feature highly in the survey include Galway City’s Spanish Arch, Eyre Square, Shop Street, the Galway Races, the Greyhound Track and the Film Fleadh.
